High school soccer playoff previews for Kent

Three out of four Kent high schools made it to the district tournament.

As the high school boys soccer regular season came to a close on May 2, the district tournament brackets were revealed. The Kent Reporter will highlight all the matchups and information on those games for each school in the area.

Here is the 3A classification, and more specifically, the 3A District 3 / 4 tournament. All of these games are on Saturday, May 6.

14 Spanaway Lake (5-4-4) @ 11 Kent-Meridian (5-4-7)

Last Meeting: N/A

Details: Kent-Meridian was a game shy of the state tournament last season. After beating Silas in the second round of districts the Royals failed twice to make it to state. This season has been all over the place but recently the Royals have scored three goals in four out of their last six games. Kent-Meridian could make the state tournament for the first time in over 20 years.

4A

6 Kentwood (9-2-5) @ 3 Puyallup (10-1-4)

Last Meeting: 1-1 Draw (March 20, 2023)

Details: Kentwood took home second place in the NPSL this season with 31 points, three points behind Tahoma. These two teams played earlier this season and the match ended in a 1-1 draw and these teams continued to have successful seasons after their meeting. Kentwood hasn’t lost since Mar. 22 against Issaquah, that’s 11 games unbeaten to end the regular season.

13 Kentridge (5-9-1) @ 12 Olympia (9-4-4)

Last Meeting: N/A

Details: The Chargers have only won two out of their last eight games going 2-6-0 over that span. Kentridge did just enough to snag the fifth spot in the standings taking the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Decatur Gators. They’re facing a Bears team that has only lost two out of their last nine games going 4-2-3 since April 11.
