Neveah Molina (Volleyball) and Tajveer Singh (Tennis) are the winners from Kent-Meridian.

The Kent Reporter athletes of the week for the week of Oct. 11 are from Kent-Meridian; Tajveer Singh (Sr.) tennis, Neveah Molina (Sr.) volleyball.

What do you value in your sport or about your team?

Molina: I value the connection that I have with my team, we’ve really become a family over time.

Singh: I value my teammates who support me even if I win or lose my teammates push me and help me strive for success.

What have you learned from your sport that you can take with you throughout your life/future?

Molina: That it’s okay to make mistakes, and forgiving yourself is the first step to success.

Singh: Tennis has taught me discipline, good problem solving skills and has helped me grow as a person.

What do you do when you aren’t motivated and what helps you stay motivated?

Molina : I tell myself to lock in really and forget that last play and focus on moving forward. Something that helps me stay motivated is my team, I have to fight for them and not just me.

Singh: hen I’m not motivated, I like to go to the basics of tennis. It helps me clear my mind and really dial in.

Do you have a favorite pre-game meal?

Molina: Sour Patch Kids or Sweet Tart Ropes

Singh: My favorite pre-game meal is a bowl from Chipotle.

What advice would you give to a teammate that is struggling?

Molina: Keep your head up Queen and just let them know that I believe in them so they should too.

Singh: My advice for a struggling teammate is network. There are many people out there who would want to play tennis with you and help you improve. This is one of those sports that requires a lot of patience.

From the sidelines:

Molina: Navaeh is a tireless worker and leader of the volleyball team. She leads the team in kills, digs and aces. Both on and off the court, Nevaeh is a great team member, kind and always has a smile on her face.

Singh: Taj has had an amazing Senior year. He started tennis as a Freshman and worked hard to improve his game to singles #1 for KM. He is a great captain because he encourages his teammates and also helps coach them in the off season and after practice. KM Tennis is very excited to see Taj play in the League Tournament and hopefully make his goal of playing in the West Central District Tournament.
