Kent Reporter’s Female Athlete of the Week: Haley Swanson

Swanson is coming off a season ending injury in 2022 and looking to have a good season in 2023.

Kentridge High School senior Haley Swanson, soccer, is the Kent Reporter Athlete of the Week for Sept. 8.

Q: What is your favorite subject/class in school?

A: Culinary arts.

Q: Who is the person in your life that has helped you succeed the most?

A: Definitely my parents. I wouldn’t be coming back to play from my ACL tear without their support this past year. They did everything for me to get me back to playing my passion again and to be where I am today.

Q: You’re on a long road trip, you stop at a gas station. You get one drink and one snack. What are you choosing?

A: Arizona tea and gummy bears.

Q: Describe your pre-game ritual.

A: Handshake with my mom and listen to my headphones.

Q: Song you currently can’t stop listening to?

A: “Telekinesis,” by Travis Scott.

From the sidelines: Haley has an incredible drive and positive attitude, and she shares her positive energy with all teammates and coaches. Haley stands out with her technical skills, high work rate, and flexibility to play multiple positions, based on what the team needs. A great two-way player, she rates equally as a defensive stopper and as an attacking playmaker. After coming off a serious injury last year, Haley is looking forward to the season ahead.
