King Showcase in Kent to feature state-ranked high school basketball teams

8-game boys and girls tournament Jan. 16 at ShoWare Center includes Kentridge boys against Mount Si

Several state-ranked high school boys and girls basketball teams will clash in the 12th annual King Showcase on Monday, Jan. 16 at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent.

The schedule includes the Kentridge boys against Mount Si at 7 p.m. Mount Si is ranked No. 2 and Kentridge No. 9 in the Jan. 4 Associated Press poll of sportswriters across the state.

The tournament features eight games from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, military and students with ASB cards. The ShoWare Center is at 625 W. James St.

Clashes between 4A state-ranked girls basketball teams include No. 2 Woodinville against No. 7 Sumner at 3:30 p.m. and No. 6 Eastlake against Bellarmine Prep at noon.

In another showdown boys basketball game, Lynden, rated No. 1 in Class 2A, plays North Kitsap at 2 p.m.

Other Kent schools in the tournament include Kentlake boys against Puyallup at 9 a.m. and the Kentwood girls against Bethel at 8:30 p.m.

• 3:30 p.m.: Girls Woodinville vs Sumner

• 5 p.m.: Boys Tahoma vs Sumner

• 7 p.m.: Boys Mount Si vs Kentridge

• 8:30 p.m.: Girls Kentwood vs Bethel
