JESUS VALDEZ, Kent-Meridian

Grade: Junior. Sport: Wrestling. Accomplishment: Valdez, one of the state’s elite 103-pounders, pinned three straight opponents on Saturday to win his weight class at the Tahoma Mat Classic.

If you could invite anyone in the world for dinner, whom would you invite and what would you serve: I would invite my girlfriend and make Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Favorite class: English. Favorite Movie: Titanic and Fever Pitch. Most recent book read: “Breaking Dawn” by Stephanie Meyers. Also noted: Valdez sports a 3.5 G.P.A., is a two-time district qualifier in cross country and is an International Baccalaureate Candidate.

COLTON MARLOWE, Kentlake

Grade: Freshman. Sport: Wrestling. Accomplishment: Marlowe, a 103-pounder, brought home the title from the South Kitsap Invitational on Saturday. He won three straight matches, culminating with a 7-4 decision over Evergreen’s Jerret Canovas in the championship match.

Favorite class: Weight training. Favorite Movie: Four Brothers. Also noted: Marlowe hopes to get a full-ride scholarship to college, preferably Washington State.

BRYAN LAM, Kentridge

Grade: Junior. Sport: Swimming. Accomplishment: Lam helped the Chargers secure their fourth straight SPSL North crown, winning the 200 free and 100 free along with swimming a leg on two of Kentridge’s relay teams in a 109-77 victory over Auburn Riverside.

If you could invite anyone in the world for dinner, whom would you invite and what would you serve: I would invite Michael Phelps and serve him Chinese food because I’m Chinese and he likes Chinese food. Favorite class: Marketing. Favorite Movie: Batman: The Dark Knight. Most recent book read: “Band of Brothers” by Stephan E. Ambrose. Also noted: Lam hopes to attend the University of Washington after high school.

KYLE KOON, Kentlake

Grade: Freshman. Sport: Swimming. Accomplishment: Koon has been the Falcons’ Swiss Army knife this season, securing league times in every event. He also has registered a district-qualifying time in the 200 IM.

If you could invite anyone in the world for dinner, whom would you invite and what would you serve: I would invite (Olympic swimmer) Michael Phelps and serve nothing but water. Favorite class: Math. Favorite Movie: Mulan. Most recent book read: “Second Chance” by Jane Green. Also noted: When Koon isn’t parting the waters, he plays club soccer in the offseason.

KATIE STECKLER, Kentlake Grade: Freshman. Sport: Gymnastics. Accomplishment: On a team loaded with talent, Steckler has been one of the youngest standout performers. Last week, she helped the Falcons break the 170-point barrier for the second time this season by bringing home third in the all-around.

If you could invite anyone in the world for dinner, whom would you invite and what would you serve: I would invite all my friends and serve Italian food. Favorite class: Biology. Favorite Movie: Elf. Most recent book read: “Twilight” by Stephanie Meyers. Also noted: Steckler also competes as a Level 8 gymnast for Puget Sound Gymnastics.

LOGAN RYAN, Kentwood Grade: Junior. Sport: Swimming. Accomplishment: Ryan, one of the SPSL North’s top swimmers, recently qualified for state in the 100 breaststroke, touching out in 1:03.62.

Favorite class: AP Calculus/AP Chemistry. Favorite Movie: Batman: The Dark Knight. Most recent book read: “The Riddle” by Alison Croggon. Also noted: Ryan sports a 3.95 G.P.A. and is part of National Honor Society.
