BASEBALL

5-TOOL RESIDENT CAMPS

These camps in BASEBALL and SOFTBALL, conducted by Auburn High School and Evergreen State Sports, will offer three one-week sessions: July 20-24 (fundamentals for ages 8-14), July 27-31 (advanced fundamentals for ages 15-18) and Aug. 3-7 (fundamentals for ages 8-14). Camps will take place at the Brannan Sports Complex in Auburn, and campers will be housed and meals will be provided at Cascade Middle School in Auburn. GRAND SLAM CAMPS

These camps are for players ages 6-12, and are staffed by local high school coaches and current college players who teach fundamentals in a fun, upbeat environment. Camps are scheduled for July 7-10 at Daffodil Park in Sumner, July 14-17 at Petrovitsky Park in Renton, and July 21-24 at South County Ballfield Park in Federal Way. The cost is $99. BASKETBALL

REC PLAYERS NEEDED

KENTLAKE BOYS HOOP CAMP

This camp for players who will be entering grades 2-9 is scheduled for June 24-27 at Kentlake High School, 21401 S.E. 300th St. It will be directed by Kentlake coaches Ron Charrier and Jeff Martin. The cost is $95 if registered by June 1, and $100 thereafter, and includes a camp T-shirt and basketball. In addition to individual and group instruction, campers will participate in 5-on-5 games, hot-shot competition, free throw contests and other activities. KENTLAKE GIRLS CAMP

SHOTCALLERS TOURNAMENT

This tournament is schedule for June 13-15 at Sumner and Bonney Lake high schools. It is open to boys and girls teams in grades 5-12. The team entry fee is $215, with a three-game guarantee. GRACE BASKETBALL CAMP

WTA HIGH SCHOOL TEAM CAMP

BOATING

KENT DRAGON BOAT ASSN.

The association is inviting anyone interested in paddling a 48-foot dragon boat to Lake Meridian in Kent on Saturdays (before 8 a.m.) and Tuesdays (6 p.m.) through mid October. STEELHEAD SUMMIT

This bi-anual gathering of concerned groups, anglers and citizens to discuss the latest issues facing steelhead throughout their range, is scheduled for Saturday May 31, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Seattle Airport Marriott. PUGET SOUND CAMP

This camp is for players who will be entering grades 4-9 in the fall. It is scheduled for June 30-July 3 at French Field. It is a non-contact camp and runs from 9 a.m.-noon each day. It will be directed by Kentridge High head coach Marty Osborn, and the camp staff will include coaches from Kentridge and other area high schools and junior highs, as well as current Kentridge seniors and former players now in college. KENT CHAMBER GOLF CLASSIC

The 30th annual edition of this tournament is scheduled for Monday, July 14, at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn. RENTON SAILING CLUB CLASSES

A four-session INTRO TO BASIC SAILING class will be offered on Wednesdays, with classes now under way. It is open to ages 9 and older. The cost is $32 for Renton residents and $38 for non-residents.

An eight-session RED CROSS-CERTIFIED SMALL-BOAT SAILING class will be offered on a Thursday-Friday basis for four weeks, with classes now under way. The cost is $80 for Renton residents and $95 for non-residents.
