Seattle Thunderbirds forward Lukas Svejkovsky received Western Hockey League (WHL) Player of the Week honors after leading his Kent-based team to three victories.
The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect led all WHL skaters with eight points (five goals, three assists) in three outings with the T-Birds this past week, including a career-best five-point performance Saturday, March 26.
The product of Point Roberts, Wash. started his week with a pair of goals as Seattle posted a 5-2 road victory over the Vancouver Giants on March 25.
Svejkovsky, 20, who began his WHL career with Vancouver, then recorded a hat-trick March 26 as part of a five-point night as Seattle defeated the Giants 6-2 on home ice.
The 20-year-old finished his week by registering an assist March 27 as Seattle wrapped up a three-win weekend by defeating the Tri-City Americans 4-1.
Seattle, which has clinched a playoff berth, entered this week in fourth place in the Western Conference with a record of 39-17-4-2 and 84 points. The Everett Silvertips lead the conference with 94 points followed by the Kamloops Blazers with 90 and the Portland Winterhawks with 87 points.
The T-Birds play the last-place Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m. Friday, April 1 at the accesso ShoWare Center. Six games remain in the regular season, which concludes April 15 for Seattle at Tri-City.
Since making his Seattle debut Jan. 21, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound forward has tallied 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists) in 29 games.
Svejkovsky was originally selected by Vancouver in the second round of the 2016 WHL Draft, and was acquired by Seattle via trade from the Medicine Hat Tigers in December 2021. In 192 career WHL regular season games with the Giants, Tigers and Thunderbirds, he has amassed 155 points (69 goals, 86 assists).
The Penguins selected Svejkovsky in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
