Five different players had two or more points Sunday night in the Seattle Thunderbirds’ 5-1 victory over the Spokane Chiefs at Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.

Adam Henry had a goal and two assists while Branden Troock, Alexander Delnov and Mathew Barzal each had a goal and an assist. Shea Theodore had two assists in the win.

The T-Birds have won four consecutive games and will face the Chiefs in a home-and-home series starting Friday. They are in Spokane on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. game and at the ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.

The T-Birds have scored eight power-play goals in the last three games on 17 chances.

Seattle (16-9-1-3) started the game with a bit of jump outshooting the Chiefs 10-0 in the first five minutes of the game. The T-Bird capitalized on their energy with a power-play goal at 11:11of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Troock the puck along left board and centered it to Henry skating from the right point to the top of the slot. Henry came down the slot and passed the puck to Roberts Lipsbergs at the bottom of the right circle. Lipsbergs beat Spokane goalie Adam Hughson high for the goal.

Seattle at one point in the first period had an 18-2 advantage in shots. The T-Birds finished the first period with a 19-12 advantage in shots.

The T-Birds took a 2-0 lead at 12:06 of the second period on Troock’s 10th goal of the year. Theodore broke up a Spokane rush in the T-Birds zone and Delnov got to the loose puck. He skated up the left wing with Troock trailing the play in the middle of the ice. Just before the goal line Delnov centered the puck to Troock in the slot. Troock redirected the pass over Hughson’s glove for the T-Birds second goal.

The T-Birds had a 31-22 lead in shots after 40 minutes by outshooting the Chiefs 12-10 in the second period.

Delnov scored an unassisted goal at 5:58 of the third to give the T-Birds a 3-0 lead. Skating behind the Spokane goal from left to right, Delnov picked up a loose puck, came out front of the net and beat Hughson over the left shoulder for the goal.

Spokane’s Colton Bobyk was called for interference and roughing midway through the third period giving the T-Birds a four minute power play. They quickly capitalized with two goals in 18 seconds.

Adam Henry had the puck at the right point. He skated towards the center of the ice and took a slap shot with Barzal slightly to the right of Hughson. Barzal tipped Henry’s shot past the goalie for his fifth goal of the season, which came at 10:41 of the third.

Barzal won the ensuing face off back to Theodore. Theodore sent the puck right back to Barzal who skated into the Chiefs zone. Barzal split the defense and made Hughson make a sprawling save. Henry was trailing the play, got the rebound in the low right circle and wristed it past Hughson for the T-Birds fifth goal. The goal came at 10:59 of the third.

Spokane (17-10-0-2) got on the board at 11:27 of the third when Riley Whittingham scored off an assist from Markson Bechtold.

The T-Birds outshot the Chiefs 15-7 in the third period and 46-29 in the game.

Seattle goalie Justin Myles made 28 saves on 28 shots to get the win and improve his record to 9-4-0-0.
