T-Birds take on Chiefs in first round of playoffs

The Seattle Thunderbirds will play the Spokane Chiefs, the defending Western Hockey League and Memorial Cup Champions, in the first round of the 2009 WHL Playoffs.

The T-Birds finished the regular season with a record of 35-32-1-4, which was good for fifth place in the Western Conference playoff standings.The Chiefs, with one regular season game still to be played, currently have a record of 45-23-0-3 and are in fourth place in the Western Conference playoff standings. A win in their last game will not move the Chiefs out of fourth place.

First Round Schedule

Game 1 – Friday, March 20 at Spokane at Veterans Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.

Game 2 – Saturday, March 21 at Spokane at Veterans Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.

Game 3 – Tuesday, March 24 vs. Spokane at ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m.

Game 4 – Wednesday, March 25 vs. Spokane at ShoWare Center at 7:05 p.m.

Game 5 – Friday, March 27 at Spokane at Veterans Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.*

Game 6 – Sunday, March 29 vs. Spokane at ShoWare Center at 5:05 p.m.*

Game 7 – Tuesday, March 31 at Spokane at Veterans Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.*

* if necessary

All rounds of the 2009 WHL Playoffs are a best-of- seven format.

Single-game playoff tickets are available for purchase online at www.seattl ethunderbirds.com or at the ShoWare Center box office. Playoff ticket prices for the first round are $18 and $24.

The T-Birds have a 10 ticket special for the first round of the playoffs. Fans that purchase 10 tickets to any single playoff game will get a $4 discount per ticket and two free tickets.
