The Seattle Thunderbirds has acquired right wing Jamal Watson from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for left wing Cory Millette and a fifth-round selection in the 2016 Bantam Draft.
“We are very happy to add Jamal to our team for next year,” said T-Birds general manager Russ Farwell. “Jamal can create game breaking plays due to his exceptional speed. This trade will allow Cory to be a top-six forward in Lethbridge where he will be counted on to provide both leadership and scoring.”
Watson, a 20-year-old, had 26 goals and 28 assists for 54 points in 66 games with the Hurricanes last season. He has played four seasons with the Hurricanes and has 69 goals and 79 assists for 148 points in 270 career games.
Millette, a 20-year-old, was acquired by the T-Birds from the Prince Albert Raiders on Jan. 8. Millette appeared in 32 regular season games with the T-Birds and had 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points. In 72 games with the T-Birds, Raiders and Saskatoon Blades last season he had 24 goals and 23 assists for 47 points in 72 games.
Millette played in all six T-Birds playoff games and had two goals and three assists.
