Thunderbirds goalie Thomas Milic makes CHL All-Star first team

Seattle defenseman Kevin Korchinski chosen to third team

Seattle Thunderbirds goalie Thomas Milic was chosen to the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) first team for the 2022-2023 season.

Seattle defenseman Kevin Korchinski made the third team. Both players helped the T-Birds win the Western Hockey League (WHL) title and advance to the Memorial Cup. The CHL announced the teams June 1. Sixty teams play in the CHL.

The T-Birds play their home games at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent.

Milic was chosen after a dominant season in which he went 27-3-2. His 2.08 goals against average and .928 save percentage led the WHL while he ranked second in both categories across the CHL. Milic registered three shutouts in the regular season while his 60 career wins with Seattle are sixth most in team history. Milic earlier was picked as the WHL Goaltender of the Year.

Korchinski, a Chicago Blackhawks NHL Draft pick, ranked sixth in WHL scoring among defensemen with 73 points in 2022-2023, a number that was the third best by a d-man in team history. Korchinski had 62 assists and three games where he had at least four points. He was also a member of February’s CHL Team of the Month.

The rest of the first team included forward Connor Bedard, Regina Pats; forward Jordan Dumais, Halifax Mooseheads; forward Logan Stankover, Kamloops Blazers; defenseman Brandt Clarke, Barrie Colts; and defenseman Olen Zellweger, Kamloops Blazers.
