Tacoma Stars goalkeeper Danny Waltman has been selected to the Major Arena Soccer League Team of the Week for week 12, the league announced Tuesday.

Waltman recorded a season-high 19 saves on 21 shots in regulation during the Stars 3-2 shootout victory over the Cedar Rapids Rampage last Friday night. The victory helped vault Tacoma into sole possession of first place in the MASL Pacific Division.

After allowing a season-low two goals during regulation, Waltman contributed four saves through six shootout rounds to help the Stars secure their eighth win. The 35-year-old Gig Harbor native ranks tied for second in the league with eight wins, sixth in average goals allowed per match (5.21), and seventh in save percentage (.705).

In addition to Waltman, the week 12 MASL Team of the Week features Kansas City defender Alain Matingou, Chicago midfielder Douglas Dos Santos, Sonora midfielder Daniel Lopez, Sonora forward Franck Tayou, and Dallas forward VcMor Eligwe.

This is Waltman’s second Team of the Week selection this year, in addition to his selection as the MASL November Goalkeeper of the Month.

Waltman and the Stars aim to extend their four-game winning streak against the Turlock Express this Friday, Jan. 20 at the ShoWare Center. First kick is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.

Season ticket packages, group outings, family packs, and suite offerings for Stars’ 2016-17 season are available now. To purchase, call 1-844-STARS-TIME or visit the Stars online.
