Waltman, West receive MASL Team of the Week honors

Tacoma Stars goalkeeper Danny Waltman and defender Adam West have been named to the Major Arena Soccer League Team of the Week for week 16, the league announced Tuesday.

Tacoma Stars goalkeeper Danny Waltman and defender Adam West have been named to the Major Arena Soccer League Team of the Week for week 16, the league announced Tuesday.

This is Waltman’s second and West’s third Team of the Week selection this season.

Waltman tallied 20 saves on 25 shots and held St. Louis off the score board throughout the first half in Tacoma’s 12-5 victory over the Ambush on Friday. He ranks among the top 10 goalkeepers in the league in minutes (second, 968:25), goals against average (third, 4.83), and save percentage (tied-seventh, .736).

West leads the Stars in points after contributing one goal and two assists to the winning effort on Friday. He ranks second on the team in both goals (11) and assists (9).

Joining Waltman and West on the MASL Team of the Week are Ontario defender Nelson Santana, Brownsville midfielder Victor Parreiras, Missouri midfielder Leo Gibson, and Chicago forward Adolfo Bautista.

Stars midfielder Joseph Cairel earned honorable mention after notching a season-high two goals and two assists in Friday’s victory.
