WIAA picks Kentridge swimmer Davies as Athlete of the Week

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) selected Kentridge High swimmer Jake Davies as one of its athletes of the week.

Davis, a senior, placed first in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 1.67 seconds and second in the 100 freestyle (49.38) on Jan. 28 at the North Puget Sound League meet to help the Chargers win the team title. Davies took first place in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle a week earlier against Mercer Island.

Each week throughout the school year, the WIAA recognizes 12 varsity athletes, a male and a female from each of the six classifications, who exhibited an outstanding performance for the previous week.

In recognition of their accomplishment, each athlete of the week winner receives a congratulatory letter from WIAA executive director, Mike Colbrese, a commemorative State Athlete of the Week T-shirt and a certificate. Winners are also posted to the WIAA website at wiaa.com.
