Did Washington state really cut its budget by $3 billion last year?

Representatives Upthegrove and Orwall claim that our state government cut $3 billion from the state budget last year. If that budget was actually $3 billion less than the previous budget then I commend them. If not, they lied to us.

Only in government is not getting what you want considered a cut.

After watching the movie “Apollo 13” last year, my family had considered a trip to the moon this year. That would have increased our moon-related expenses from $1.99 last year to several hundred million dollars this year. We scaled back and decided on a trip to Cape Canaveral instead. Can I really claim that I just cut my household budget by several hundred million dollars even though actual expenditures increased well over 100,000 percent, from $1.99 last year to several thousand dollars this year? People who reside in reality would scoff at such a notion.

There are liars, damn liars, and politicians.
