Let’s not inflict needless punishment on the American people with a knee-jerk reaction (Are we any smarter following Gulf Oil Spill: Editor’s Note)
B.P. broke all the right safety rules, cut corners to save time and money which was both criminal and unethical.
The other oil giants: Chevron, Exxon, Mobil, etc., use pioneered safety precautions in deep water and use devices to ensure that their deep-water drilling doesn’t have this happen.
However, in all human enterprise, accidents do take place. During all the huge hurricanes in the Gulf in the last decade, there have been no accidents. After all, we don’t ground all phones because of one accident – we learn from the mistakes and move on.
