Kent-Meridian lowered the boom on Kentridge, 35-9, in a South Puget Sound League North 4A game at French Field on Friday night, qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in 15 years.
The defense had five sacks and forced four turnovers for the Royals (4-5), who have won three out of their last four games to make the playoffs.
The Chargers finished the season 2-7 after dropping their fifth straight game.
Quincy Carter scored on runs of 2, 5 and 11 yards and threw 65 yards to Cartez Green for another score for K-M.
Vinnie Malietufa added a 4-yard scoring run for the Royals.
Derek Bell ran 20 yards for the Chargers’ lone score.
