Kent girl is a state finalist for National American Miss Washington Pageant

Kent’s Stephanie Collins has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Washington Pageant on Aug. 8-10 at Tacoma’s Hotel Murano.
Stephanie, 6, will participate in the Miss Washington Princess category, one of five age divisions. The pageant is for girls ages 4-18.
Stephanie, a student at Horizon Elementary School, is the daughter of Stephen and Yuri Collins, Kent.
The winner receives a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete it the national pageant in California, where she will receive a complimentary tour of Hollywood and two VIP tickets to Disneyland.
The National American Miss pageants keeps activities and competitions at age appropriate levels. Girls under 12 are not allowed to wear make-up and there is no swimsuit competition. The pageant program is based on inner-beauty as well as poise and presentation and offers an “All-American spirit of fun for family and friends.” Emphasis is put on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning good sportsmanship and setting and achieving personal goals.
