In celebration of “Read Across America,” Springbrook Elementary School hosts “Celebrate Reading, Character Carnival” at 6 p.m. today.

John Moffitt, a Seattle Seahawk, will be a special guest reader.

Families are encouraged to attend and celebrate by participating in activities focusing on literacy and by listening to stories as read by several guest readers. Other guest readers will include Dr. Edward Lee Vargas, Kent School District superintendent; Dr. Merri Rieger, assistant superintendent; and Kent City Councilman Bill Boyce.

Every student who attends receives a free book to take home, courtesy of the Springbrook PTA.
