University of Washington recruit Darin Johnson will compete in the East versus West All-Star Classic Saturday

University of Washington recruits Darin Johnson, of Sacramento and Jahmel Taylor, of Los Angeles, will play for the East as 22 of the nation’s top high school senior-class basketball players compete Saturday, May 11 at the ShoWare Center in Kent in the inaugural East versus West All-Star Classic.

The game tips off at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 for courtside and $15 for general admission. Students with ID get in for $12 while family four-packs are on sale for $48. For tickets, go to www.showarecenter.com.

Zach LaVine (Bothell, UCLA commit) and Torren Jones (Chandler,Ariz./Missouri) will lead the West team. The West squad also includes Rainier Beach High’s Marquis Davis, who is headed to Santa Clara.

The East will feature Kameron Williams (Baltimore, Md./Ohio State) and Gavin Schilling (Chicago/Michigan State). Also suiting up for the East will be Ballard High’s Seth Berger (UMass), Seattle Prep’s DJ Fenner (Nevada) and Garfield High’s Tucker Haymond (Western Michigan).

Jason Kerr, former coach of Seattle’s Franklin High School, and Seattle’s Garfield High School coach Ed Haskins will lead the West, while the East’s coaches are Portland’s Jefferson High School coach Pat Strickland and Renton High School coach Rick Comer.

Performances by national recording artists Iyaz and Mann will take place at halftime of Saturday’s game.
