Pfeiffer elected Washington State PTA Region 9 director

Sharon Pfeiffer of Kent was recently elected as Washington State PTA Region 9 director for a two-year term beginning June 1.

As a region director, Pfeiffer is responsible for organizing leadership workshops and providing support for the councils and local PTAs in the Auburn, Federal Way, Highline, Kent, Renton, Tukwila and Tahoma school districts. She also will serve on the WSPTA Board of Directors.

“We need to continue to address diversity in our area and look for resources and community groups that we can partner with to work toward an understanding of our challenges and successes,” Pfeiffer said. “Creating connections will help us to move forward in an environment that can be challenging but working together we are strong region and I know that we can bring about change and valuable communication.

“We also need to continue to train our local units and help them succeed.”

Pfeiffer has been involved in PTA in the Kent community, Region 9 and at the state level for more than 15 years. She serves as Kent Area Council PTA president. Before that she served as coordinator for the state PTA convention, a member of the Region 9 service delivery team; president and vice president of Kent-Meridian High School PTSA; graduation committee chair of Meridian Middle School PTSA; treasurer of Kent Junior High PTSA; president, vice president and sectary of East Hill Elementary PTA.

She is a purchase order coordinator for one of the largest bird food manufacturers in the U.S. and is involved in the community through the Kent East Hill Revitalization group, and the Kent School District Family Engagement Task Force and School Improvement Teams.
