For the Reporter

Kent Black Action Commission (KBAC) announces a voter registration drive at the Kent Cornucopia Days Street Fair on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteers will staff a voter registration booth from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

KBAC is partnering with the Poverty Action Network to conduct a “Turn out the Vote initiative”. This initiative signals the launch of a community-led voter registration and voter education effort to promote voter participation and political awareness. The initiative conducted in conjunction with Kent Cornucopia Days will feature:

• A 3-day voter registration drive

• New voter registration signup

• Brochures on ex-felon voting rights

• Information on upcoming ballot initiatives

Volunteers will staff a voter registration booth from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day of the street fair.

In an effort to get the community activated into the political process, KBAC will be active in new-voter registration throughout the year.

Also, KBAC will host a candidate forum for perspective mayoral, City Council and school board members on Oct. 16.
