Some of the Northwest’s fastest nitro-burning Funny Cars will rock Pacific Raceways’ quarter-mile strip at the Goodguys’ 26th annual Friday Nite Vintage Drags.

Gates open at 10 a.m. followed by time trials at 1 p.m., final eliminations at 4 and the Funny Car exhibitions from 7 to 9.

The Kent track was once home to some of the best Funny Cars shows in the 1970s. This year, Goodguys will tap into that rich heritage with a four-car Funny Car showcase, featuring the nitro-burning fuel coupes of Tacoma’s Bucky Austin (1978 Firebird), Canadians Tim Boychuk (’77 Firebird) and Twig Zeigler (’71 Plymouth) and Maple Valley’s Mark “Mr Explosive” Sanders (’70 Mustang).

All four cars have run 5.80-second elapsed times at top speeds of 250 mph.

A full complement of sportsman racing also will be featured, including five eliminator classes.

General admission is $20, children 7-12 are $6.
