Students in the second through fifth grades can compete for free in the third annual National Trimathlon on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Kent Mathnasium, 10216 S.E. 256th St., Suite 104.

Three events are available to enter. Pre-registration is required. Go to mathnasiumtrimathlon.com/register or call 253-639-6284.

The competition is designed to generate excitement about math among area students and schools by testing mathematical thinking skills as well as the ability to compute. Number sense will be as important as computation speed in the events, so one doesn’t have to be a math whiz to compete.
