Kent Library hosts 911 education program for preschoolers

The Kent Branch of the King County Library System will host a special story time to teach preschoolers about dialing 911.

The free half-hour event, will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the library, 212 Second Ave. N.

Melanie Taylor, public education specialist for the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority, will read “Emery and the Ice Carnival,” a story about Emery the Emergency Penguin.

Children will learn a 911 song and get an Emery coloring book to take home.

The Seattle Public Library, King County Library System and the King County E-911 program office have partnered to visit 13 libraries this month, which is 911 National Public Education Month.
