Communities In Schools of Kent hosts breakfast fundraiser May 19

Communities In Schools of Kent hosts its 14th annual Breakfast for the Kids fundraiser on Thursday, May 19 at Kent Phoenix Academy, 11000 SE 264th St.

There is no cost to attend, but RSVP is required. Please register at kent.ciswa.org/breakfast.

Doors open at 7 a.m., breakfast will be served at 7:30 and a program begins at 8.

Proceeds will help support programs for at-risk students in the Kent School District. Communities in Schools of Kent is a local affiliate of the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization.

There are site coordinators at eight Kent schools who work administration and staff to determine student needs, including basic necessities, tutoring and family engagement.

For the last decade, Communities In Schools has also partnered with the school district to match community volunteer mentors with students at 15 schools. Mentors meet one-on-one with a student weekly and provide the youth with a caring adult relationship.
