Survivors, family, friends take part in Kent Relay for Life

The American Cancer Society’s Kent Relay for Life fundraiser returned to French Field this weekend.

As of Friday, 39 teams and 501 participants had raised $$91,870.47.

The opening ceremony began Friday evening with the posting of the colors followed by the singing of the national anthem and the survivors and caregivers’ laps.

The relay included a luminaria ceremony. The relay was scheduled to end Saturday morning.

Nationally, the overnight event brings together more than 3.5 million people, raising more than $400 million.
