Work to repair and strengthen a King County levee along the Green River in Kent requires the temporary closure of a short stretch of the Green River Trail in north Kent.

Beginning Monday, June 6, crews will start making repairs to the Briscoe Levee, including replacing damaged and failing pavement on the trail, which runs atop the flood-protection levee through the Green River Valley.

The work is expected to last for four to five weeks, and during this time the trail will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, between the South 200th Street bridge and South 190th Street in Kent, according to a King County media release.

There will be no signed detour around the closed stretch of trail, and trail users are encouraged to explore other portions of King County’s regional trail system.
