Save the date of Aug. 2 for National Night Out.

Kent Police Chief Ken Thomas invites neighborhoods on the first Tuesday of August to join with residents nationwide for the 33rd National Night Out. The event is a great opportunity to bring neighbors together and share food, good talk and fun times for the kids. Neighbors getting to know neighbors is a proven crime prevention tool.

By registering you will also receive visitors from the police and other city departments. Your National Night Out Event can be as big or small as you want it. Have a potluck, ice cream social, outdoor movie night, games or whatever you would like.

Register your NNO neighborhood event by going to kentnno.com. Registration closes July 31.
