Kent Police sergeant attends memorial service for Dallas officer

Sgt. Scott Rankin represented the Kent Police Department at the memorial service on Thursday in Dallas for Sgt. Michael Smith, one of five officers killed in the line of duty on July 7.

Smith, 56, had 28 years of service with the Dallas Police.

“We are so proud to be a part of his memorial and stand beside Dallas,” Kent Police posted on its Facebook page.

Officers from Florida, Arizona, Washington, Alaska, Kansas, New Jersey, Maine were among those who lined up for the service, according to the Dallas Morning News website.
