Initiatives pose more taxes

After reading the Voters’ Pamphlet and newspapers, I cannot vote for any of the initiations on this year’s ballot.

The first paragraph of the initiative sounds great, but you read the following paragraphs and they are full of things covering special interest groups.

They all say your taxes will not go up, which is not true.

Example: Several years ago, they said our fire service taxes will not go up. My tax bill went from $250 to $750 per year.

Everyone’s property has a new value assessment. Example: Mine went up $40,000. Thus, all the levies will raise my taxes. Check your tax records.

The carbon tax will raise the prices of gas a dollar per gallon while giving some large companies a tax break. Example: Boeing alone will get more than a $750,000 tax break.

People on fixed incomes are the hardest hit. We haven’t gotten any pay raises for years.
