The Kent Downtown Partnership (KDP) wants to thank the Tacoma Stars and their organizer, John Crouch, for inviting the KDP to play a soccer scrimmage game again this year.

With the help of Kelly Peterson and Evan Swanson, KDP was able to put two teams together – Raptors and Asteroids – for a match on the ShoWare Center pitch prior to the Tacoma Stars game last Friday.

The Tacoma Stars went all out for us. Even though KDP Raptors lost, we were happy for the Asteroids. We all played our hearts out, and at the end we were all friends and had a team photo taken together. And, nobody went home hurt.

Many thanks go out to Cynthia Boyd of Kent Station for being our Raptor for the evening, cheering us on. We can’t wait to play again next year, and we hope more people will come out to watch us.

Good luck to the Stars at their final home game Saturday, unless they make the playoffs.
