Kent Police officer Davis’ statement about Joseph-McDade shooting

Kent Police released several documents about the June 24 shooting death of Giovonn Joseph-McDade on the East Hill after a short vehicle pursuit.

Kent Police officer William Davis, who has been with the department for five-plus years, drove one of the patrol vehicles that pursued Joseph-McDade. Davis responded to the call to assist officer Matthew Rausch. Davis is the officer who fired the shots that killed the Auburn man and former Kent-Meridian High School student-athlete when Joseph-McDade drove his vehicle toward Davis.

After pleas from relatives and friends of Joseph-McDade to release more information about the case, Police Chief Ken Thomas decided to release documents to the family and the media. Both officers have returned to duty.
