Kent Police and detectives are investigating an overnight shooting that left a man dead at an apartment complex on East Hill.
Officers dispatched to the Row Apartments at 25614 98th Place S., around 2:55 a.m. Friday discovered a man inside a unit with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate CPR efforts by first responders, the victim died at the scene.
At the same time, officers conducted a K9 track for a suspect and located a man with a gunshot wound to his leg at nearby French Field. Fire personnel and medics were also dispatched to the location, and the subject was later transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The preliminary investigation showed the two subjects may have known each other and does not appear to be a random incident. The reason for the shooting is still under investigation.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses.
