Two people were shot and injured by passing vehicles while commuting to Boeing early Tuesday morning along northbound Interstate 5 near State Route 516 in Kent.

One of the victims called 911 at about 12:55 a.m. on July 27, according to an email from Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson.

A vehicle pulled up along the driver’s side and fired several rounds, hitting the passenger in the forearm, Johnson said. After that, another vehicle did the exact same thing, firing at the same vehicle and hitting the driver in the shoulder.

Paramedics transported the two victims to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non-life threatening injuries. Both will be OK, Johnson said.

Johnson said they have no good description of either vehicle or suspects.

The victims were in a black 2005 GMC Yukon with custom aftermarket rims and tinted windows.

Anyone with information about the vehicles or suspects is asked to contact Detective Ted Hahn at 425-401-7747 or email theodore.hahn@wsp.wa.gov.
