Auburn man, 18, dies in four-vehicle crash Saturday in Kent

An 18-year-old Auburn man was killed in a four-vehicle crash Saturday morning, Jan. 21 at 1734 Central Ave. S., in Kent, near South 266th Street.

The crash occurred at about 10:39 a.m., according to Kent Police. The Auburn teen was the driver of one of the vehicles. He died at the scene.

Paramedics transported two other people to an area hospital. Police did not have an update about their condition.

“The cause of the accident is still being investigated,” Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner said in a Jan. 23 email. “Initial reports indicate speed as a possible contributing factor.”

The speed limit is 40 mph along the street.

The crash caused Central Avenue South to be closed in both directions between South 266th Street an South 277th Street, according to the City Public Works Department

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the name of the Auburn teen.
