Two people in car injured in Kent after crash into building

Two people in a car suffered life-threatening injuries when they smashed into a Kent day care facility at about 1:38 a.m. Monday, July 7 along East Smith Street.

Firefighters, Kent Police and King County Medic One responded to a car that crashed into the Little Pioneers Academy, 515 E. Smith St.

Paramedics transported two people to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to Puget Sound Fire. The two patients are in satisfactory condidtion, according to a July 7 email from a hospital spokesperson.

Firefighters installed shoring to stabilize the building after removing the car.

Because of the damage, the day care was unable to open Monday, according to one of its teachers. The day care is just east of Wendy’s restaurant and across the street from the Kent Senior Activity Center.
