A sampling of Kent Police incidents Nov. 24-30:
Nov. 24
• Subject in crisis: Officers were dispatched multiple times to Riverwood Apartment, 24620 Russell Road, for a subject in crisis. The individual also drove to Burien and threatened family members there (per King County Sheriff’s Office report). The family expressed concern over his escalating behavior. He is a diagnosed schizophrenic who refused to take his prescribed medication. Officers provided the family with resources.
Nov. 26
• Commercial alarm: 2:10 a.m., officers responded to Circo Circo Mexican restaurant, 25400 Pacific Highway S., regarding a commercial alarm. Upon arrival, officers found an open door and cleared the building, finding no one inside. Just before the alarm, officers had been in a brief pursuit of a stolen vehicle from that location.
Nov. 27
• Chevron ATM stolen: An employee at Chevron, 631 Central Ave. N., was in the back room before the business opened. Suspects used a black truck to ram the front doors. Two suspects entered the store, armed with a gun and a knife. It appeared they were unaware of the employee’s presence, as they told each other to hurry while stealing the ATM. They fled the scene.
• Stabbing: Officers responded to a stabbing on East Hill. The incident originated from a roommate dispute, leading to one roommate stabbing the other in the leg. Officers contacted the victim at the ER in Covington and ultimately arrested the suspect, who was booked for first-degree assault domestic violence.
Nov. 29
• Assault: Officers responded to an assault that had occurred the previous day near Dockside Apartments, 23605 62nd Ave. S. The victim reported being assaulted by a known suspect with a wrench. The victim stated that the two had been arguing for some time when the suspect came to her residence and assaulted her before fleeing.
Nov. 30
• DV incident: Officers were dispatched to a domestic violence incident where the suspect fled in a vehicle. The victim stated the suspect was intoxicated. Officers located the vehicle on SE Kent-Kangley Road and conducted a stop. The suspect was noncompliant. After coordinating team tactics and the use of pepper ball, the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
• Pedestrian struck: Officers were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the 22400 block of Benson Road SE. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive male in the roadway and began lifesaving measures before medics’ arrival. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative. Witnesses also stayed and provided statements. Preliminary information suggests the male crossed Benson Road at a curve, outside of a designated crosswalk, before being struck. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition.
