City offers summer day camp for Kent kids

Parents know with school out, finding fun, engaging activities for kids can be a challenge.

That’s where the city of Kent can help out with its Camp W.A.L.K.A.P.A.L.A. (Working At Letting Kids Appreciate Parks and Leisure Activities).

The camp offers a variety of sports, arts and crafts and field trips designed especially for K-6th graders. It runs every weekday from July 18 until Aug. 12 at East Hill Elementary, 9825 S. 240th Ave., from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The camp also offers a Counselor In Training program for teens going into 7th, 8th, and 9th grade who are genuinely interested in acquiring the skills necessary to become a counselor.

• July 25- 29 Field Trip: Stewart Heights Pool

Ever wish you were in charge of picking all the games and activities? This week you are

• Aug 1-5 Field Trip: GameWorks & Pizza

This week will be jam-packed with games and activities that focus on having fun and learning to be a team player

• Aug 11–15 Field Trip: Kandle Wave Pool

It’s time to get wet.  We will be playing water balloon games, sponge dodge ball and so much more

Fees are $165 per week, which include all activities, field trips, a camp T-shirt, snacks and lunch provided by the Kent School District. Scholarships are available for those who qualify.
