A bit of road rage erupted in Kent on Tuesday along eastbound State Route 516.
A man driving a Jeep began passing traffic by using the shoulder at about 1:20 p.m. A woman driving a Subaru became upset at the move, so she pulled her car into the Jeep and struck it three times, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers cited each driver for investigation of second-degree negligent driving, a potential fine of $550. The State Patrol responded to the incident after someone called 911 to report the banging vehicles.
Traffic was backed up along the highway because the crossing gates along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks were stuck in the down position at several crossings, including Willis Street.
