Kent Police and Kent School District safety officers locked down Kent-Meridian High School Tuesday morning after a report about a weapon on campus.
Two students had reportedly threatened each other, and a weapon was reportedly involved. After an investigation from police and campus safety officers, no weapon or indication of an ongoing threat was found, and the lockdown was lifted at approximately 10 a.m., according to a school district media release.
As planned for in such events, the school followed established protocols and took necessary precautions to ensure the safety of students and staff, according to district officials.
“Our Safety Services Department worked hand in hand with the Kent Police Department and, as always, handled the situation professionally,” said Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas in the media release. “When these rare threats surface, parents can know their students are in good hands.”
