Pedestrian dies in collision with freight train in Kent | Update

A pedestrian was killed after a collision in Kent with a BNSF Railway train at about 2:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5 near the 25900 block of First Avenue South.

Ryan Weinman, 29, died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

All eastbound and westbound roads between and including South 259th Street and James Street were closed for the investigation for more than an hour. Trains were stopped and multiple crossings were blocked.

The Kent Police traffic unit will investigate the circumstances that led to the collision. No other details were released by police.
