Kent motorcyclist, 35, dies in crash along I-5 in Seattle

A 35-year-old Kent man was killed when his motorcycle crashed at a high rate of speed along Interstate 5 in Seattle.
Washington State Patrol troopers responded at about 8:53 p.m. Tuesday, July 25 to a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle along southbound I-5 just north of University Street, according to a State Patrol media release.
The motorcycle and a car, driven by a 47-year-old Maple Valley man, were each traveling southbound. The motorcyclist, traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic, braked and lost control, according to the State Patrol.
The driver was ejected and struck the car coming to rest in the HOV lane. Paramedics transported the Kent man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died at 10:26 p.m. July 25, according to the State Patrol.
As of early Wednesday afternoon, July 26, the State Patrol had not yet released the man’s name pending next-of-kin notification.
The State Patrol listed the cause of the crash as speed too fast. It was unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved. The driver of the car was not injured.
The crash partially blocked I-5 for about three hours.
