A ¡La Chispa! Regional Workshop is set for Kent-Meridian High School from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Kent-Meridian High School, 10020 SE 256th St., Kent.

The workshop is a one-day event designed to teach leadership skills to middle school level Latino students. ¡La Chispa! (the spark) uses English and Spanish to help students build self-confidence, strengthen their cultural identity and increase academic success.

Host schools throughout the state provide 15-20 high school students to serve as small group leaders, creating growth opportunities for middle level mentees and high school mentors. Each high school that hosts a ¡La Chispa! Regional Workshop helps serve between 100-250 middle level Latino students.

For more information, please see the ¡La Chispa! flier and webpage (www.lacima.org/lachispa). Registration materials can also be found at www.lacima.org.

The ¡La Chispa! Bilingual Workshops are delivered by the student leadership program of the Association of Washington School Principals.
