More than 130 children ages 4 to 14 participated in the free Fishing Experience event on Saturday morning, May 18 at the Old Fishing Hole in Kent.

Children learned how to fish, be safe around water and had a chance to catch one or two of the 1,850 stocked trout, according to city parks staff. The annual event occurs each spring as the Rotary Club of Kent partners with the city Parks Department.

Participants worked with their families or volunteer guides to become a master of the pond, according to parks staff. All fishing equipment was provided.

The Old Fishing Hole is at 24945 Frager Road, just south of the Meeker Street bridge and east of State Route 516.
