Sound Transit will close the South 272nd Street off-ramp from northbound Interstate 5 in Kent/Federal Way for two full weekends in September for construction.

The closures will occur from 10 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Monday over the weekends of Sept. 5-8 and Sept. 12-15, according to Sound Transit. Drivers are asked to follow the signed detour route to exit northbound I-5 at Kent Des Moines Road and use southbound SR 99 (aka Pacific Highway South) to access South 272nd Street.

Times and dates are subject to change.

Crews will work to reduce noise when possible, while using cranes, trucks and other heavy equipment.

The work is part of the Federal Way Link Extension of light rail from SeaTac to Federal Way, which includes new stations at Kent Des Moines, Star Lake at South 272nd Street and Downtown Federal Way.
