Police arrest two Kent teens for robbery near Kent Station

Two Kent teens were arrested for investigation of robbery with a gun while reportedly taking money from a Federal Way teen during a Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 16 incident near the Kent Station shopping center, parking garage and transit center.
Officers responded at about 4:15 p.m. to reports of a robbery with a gun at Kent Station, according to a Sept. 17 email from Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner.
Officers arrived and located the parties involved, Kasner said. After a short foot pursuit along the railroad tracks, one teen was detained and arrested. A second teen believed to be involved also was detained and arrested.
The two arrested Kent juveniles are a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy, Kasner said. The victim is a 16-year-old Federal Way boy. Police returned the money to the Federal Way teen.
Nobody was injured, Kasner said. Officers recovered a gun reportedly used in the robbery.
A witness told the Kent Reporter that as many as 10 police vehicles responded to the incident, including Kent Police and the King County Sheriff’s Office, which contracts with Sound Transit and King County Metro to provide police services. The Sheriff’s Office also had its helicopter on the scene.
A few Sound Transit southbound commuter trains were delayed about 30 minutes due to the police activity, impacting stations in Seattle, Tukwila, Kent, Auburn, Sumner, Puyallup and Tacoma/Lakewood, according to Sound Transit alerts.
