Kent closes portions of two more streets due to water over roadway

The city of Kent has two more road closures due to water over roadway, a portion of 124th Avenue SE and a section of SE 256th Street, each on the East Hill.

A long stretch of the West Valley Highway (aka 68h Avenue South) between Frager Road and South 277th Street near the city of Auburn. also remains closed.

It remains to be determined when the roads will reopen depending on the weather, according to Public Works staff.

The list of closures, provided by the city Public Works Department, as of 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11:

• 124th Ave SE from Kent Kangley Road S to SE 270th St

• SE 256th St from 146th Ave SE to the Soos Creek Trail, just prior to 151st Place SE

• West Valley Highway from Frager Road to S. 277th St.

• S 277th St from 108th Ave SE to 83rd Ave S/Auburn Way N.

(Local residential access via 116th Ave SE or the 108th Ave SE on-ramp to the S 277th St. corridor).

• 148th Ave SE from SE 256th St to SE 249th St

• Green River Road from the S 277th St overpass to Kent city limits

Public Works staff reminds drivers to please do not drive, wade, or walk through flooded areas. Follow posted road closures and never drive around barricades. Turn around, don’t drown.

Traffic control will be in place at the closed roads; please use alternate routes.
