The public is invited to the first Kent Parks Family Night Out event from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23 at the Kent Commons Community Center, 524 Fourth Ave. N.
A free event hosted by Kent Parks, Recreation and Community Services, families will be able to explore the building, sample a variety of parks programs, play carnival-style games (and win prizes), meet your Kent Parks team and instructors and more, according to a city Facebook post.
Guests will have the option to buy dinner from the Swagg-n-Wagon Wings & Things food truck, then snag a free cookie from the Parks team for dessert.
Families also will be able to pick up a “Passport to Fun” at the welcome table, complete it visiting each of the rooms in the building and turn it back in by 7:45 p.m. to be entered to win a Kent Parks water bottle. Winners must be present for drawing at 7:50 p.m.
City crews completed an $1.5 million remodel of Kent Commons last year that included a new entrance and front counter, an expanded weight room and locker rooms, a new family restroom and two refreshment areas with vending machines containing snacks and beverages. The funds for the project came from the city’s capital budget.
No registration is required. Call the Kent Commons Community Center at 253-856-5100 with any questions.
