Marilyn Stephens, a retired resident of Kent, and her recently laid-off husband recently drove home with a fully-loaded, white 2013 Ford Escape SE, thanks to the Super 8 hotel brand.
That’s because Marilyn was the grand prize winner of Super 8’s “GR8 Escape” Sweepstakes, which wrapped up this past summer on www.facebook.com/Super8.
In addition to the car, Marilyn also won other prizes, including a GPS, iPod Touch, $50 iTunes gift card, Thule trunk-mounted 2-bike carrier and a pair of Super 8 coffee mugs. (Total MSRP valued at almost $29,000.)
Marilyn entered the contest in hopes that something good would come to her and her husband, Chris, who was forced to retire after being laid off last year and currently suffers from back injuries.
The couple are ecstatic about their win and plan to use the new SUV, which they picked up at their local Ford dealership late last month, for a much-needed road trip along the Oregon coast.
